The General Consulate of Guatemala legalize documents originated from Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.

Document Legalization/Authentication:

All Adoption Documents, prior to be legalized/authenticated by our Consular Office, must follow these procedures (if applicable):

 - Notarized

 - Certified by the County Court

 - Certified by the Secretary of State

 The legalization fee is $10.00 per document. It can be processed by mail. Make sure you include: Cover letter, money order, and an UNITED STATES  EXPRESS MAIL envelope.

Sending Humans Remains to Guatemala                   ^top

 To send human remains to Guatemala you MUST legalize the following:

- Death Certificate

- Embalmer's Affidavit

- Travel's Permit

- No contagious disease letter

- NO FEE

- Include a FEDEX/UPS/DHL return envelope - NEXT DAY SERVICE ONLY
  This only applies to Human Remains processes.

Prior to send the documents (FOR HUMAN REMAINS), please call us to make sure they will be processed and sent back same day. (Human Remains ONLY)


Bringing you pet to Guatemala:                                   ^top

 If you are traveling with your pet, you MUST have the following vaccines for your pet in order to enter Guatemala:

Dogs: Rabies, distemper, leptospirosis, parvovirosis and hepatitis.
Cats: Rabies, distemper, FVR, FCV, FIP, Feline Leukemia
Birds: Psittacosis (blood test).
Horses: Hoof and mouth disease and certificate of good health

 The certificate from the veterinarian has to be taken to:

Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
Import -Export Animals
Staff Veterinary Services

 You must present the above-mentioned certificate here at the Consulate, either in person or by mail. However, we recommend that you schedule your pet's flight until you have your paperwork authenticated by this Consular Office.
